The Philippine Embassy in Wellington advises employers and overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) that the verification of employment contracts of direct hired New Zealand bound OFWs will only be for the following employers who are exempted from the ban on direct hiring:

a. Members of the diplomatic corps
b. International organizations and
c. Heads of state and government officials with the rank of at least deputy minister.

In a Memorandum dated 22 August 2017, DOLE Undersecretary and POEA Officer-in-charge BERNARD P. OLALIA explained that the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) is currently reviewing the direct hiring policy. Hence, the arrangement will have immediate effect until further advice.
