President Benigno S. Aquino III designates cabinet secretaries to coordinate relief efforts for typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan)
President Benigno S. Aquino III issued Memorandum Order 60 signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. on 14 November 2013, designating four Cabinet Secretaries as coordinators for the relief and recovery efforts in connection with the calamity wrought by super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima has been designated as the overall coordinator for the preparation of all relief packs/goods prior to their distribution to the affected localities. Director-General Joel J. Villanueva of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority is the co-coordinator to assist Secretary Purisima in the relief activities.
Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya is the coordinator for all transportation and other logistical needs in connection with the distribution of relief goods and Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz has been assigned to the Volunteer and Assistance Coordination office. Secretary Baldoz will refer the offers of donation and other assistance to concerned implementing agencies. She has also been tasked to monitor the actions that are taking place, report the benefits and services delivered to typhoon victims and check on the Call Center Operations through the facilities of Air 21 in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 complex.
President Aquino also ordered all other Philippine Government departments, agencies, bureaus, and offices to coordinate with and assist the designated officials on any matter relating to their activities.
