PHL Embassy joins Wellington International Filipino Society Anniversary get-together
As the Philippine Embassy continues to reach out to all Filipinos in New Zealand, convey its appreciation for their sustained support and kind cooperation as well as enable them to strengthen friendship and fellowship between the Filipino community and the Embassy team, Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez together with First Secretary and Consul Arlene Gonzales-Macaisa and Third Secretary and Vice-Consul Glenn Joseph Obach attended the 12th anniversary of the Wellington International Filipino Society (WIFS) on 5 August 2013 at 1841 Bar and Restaurant, Johnsonville.
Ms. Nilda Campbell, WIFS President, Ms. Janet Miklos, Vice-President, Mr. Steve Robertson, Secretary, Ms. Merlie Manget, Treasurer and their families warmly welcomed Ambassador Benavidez and the Embassy officers. In her remarks, Ms. Campbell thanked the WIFS officers, members and their families for their support as they celebrate twelve years of togetherness undertaking projects and participating in Filipino community events. She stated that they stand ready to continue cooperating with the Philippine Embassy and participating in projects that benefit the Filipino community especially the informative seminars, language and educational programs and other outreach activities.
In congratulating WIFS on this significant occasion, Ambassador Benavidez highlighted the group’s interest and efforts to assist in promoting understanding and goodwill among the members and to be involved in Filipino and local community functions. She thanked Ms. Campbell and WIFS for being a partner of the Philippine Embassy all through the years.
A lively dinner fellowship and interaction between the Philippine Embassy officials and the WIFS officers, members and families and the blowing of the anniversary cakes capped the celebrations for the evening.
