Philippine Embassy commends Auckland University of Technology (AUT) and the Philippine Honorary Consulate General in Auckland for Filipino Culinary Delight
The Philippine Embassy commends Auckland University of Technology (AUT) and Philippine Consulate General in Auckland for promoting Filipino gustatory delight and food varieties unique to the Philippines. This wonderful occasion showcased the renowned talents of Filipino culinary students, the warmth of Filipino hospitality and the richness and artistry of Filipino culture.
We thank the AUT Team, the Philippine Consulate General in Auckland, the Filipino chefs and all those who have made this extraordinary culinary event possible, which contributes to deeper understanding and goodwill between the Philippines and New Zealand
On the 1st of May 2015, Honorary Consul General Paulo B. Garcia from the Philippine Consulate in Auckland, Honorary Vice Consul Virginia Russell and Rio Beltran, Head of UragoNZ, attended Hapunan, an AUT event at AUT's Four Seasons Restaurant.
Hapunan, was a seven course Filipino degustation meant to let others taste and enjoy the delicacy of Filipino cuisine and was put together by three AUT culinary students, Aldrin Tabora, Alec Yac, and Fernando Grupo. The members of the Philippine Consulate would like to compliment the chefs' efforts in turning ordinary Filipino cuisine into fine dining restaurant worthy dishes.
The Philippine Consulate in Auckland would also like to thank; Lester Khoo, the Director of International Relations and Development, Linda O'Neill, Head of the School of Hospitality and Tourism and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Culture and Society, Cushla Matheson, International Liaison Manager of International Relations and Development, and Margaret Linzell-Jones, Executive PA of the School of Hospitality and Tourism, for organizing and hosting this event, their hospitality and generous invitation.
