Connecting through shared stories, Filipino gastronomic delights and overall goodwill, Ambassador Kira Azucena engaged with New Zealand journalists that recently visited Manila on a familiarization tour in June 2024 organized by the Asia New Zealand Foundation Asia Media Centre (AMC).

While in Manila, the journalists heard Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo speak about the issue on the West Philippine Sea at the East-West Centre’s International Media Conference, visited the Ayala Museum's "Gold of Ancestors" Exhibit that traced the links between the Filipinos and Maori, met with executives of the TV5 Network Inc. and the Philippine Star, and were received by the the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) in Malacañang.

The New Zealand journalists were from TVNZ, NZ Herald, The Spinoff, RNZ, BusinessDesk, and Asia Media Centre.
